Music: Neil Young – Greatest Hits

May 14, 2008

Neil Young’s best songs compacted into pure genius. I absolutely love this C.D. It has been out for sometime, yet I wanted to share some of my favorite songs with everyone. “Down by the River,” “Old Man,” “Heart of Gold,” and “The Needle and the Damage Done” are the best in my opinion. I rate this C.D. a 9/10. If you like Neil Young, then you need to buy this C.D. and chill out to the poetic lyrics.

Music: Melody Gardot – Worrisome Heart

April 23, 2008

This C.D. was unveiled in 2006, yet still has a brilliant artistic expression today. I am amazed by the pure sound of her voice. Jazz, the genre that takes a lot of talent, has been most soothing to my soul as of late. Worrisome Heart is best played when you are studying, relaxing, or just want to think. I cannot pick a favorite, however, “All That I Need Is Love” and “Worrisome Heart” have bubbled to the top of the list. I bought this C.D. for $5.99, therefore, anyone can afford this one. I rate this C.D. a 8/10.

Music: P.O.D. – When Angels & Serpents Dance

April 8, 2008

The most anticipating album for Christian rockers this year, When Angels & Serpents Dance brings a different side of P.O.D. However, the lyrics seem bland and redundant, yet the band seems to capture the surreal battle that wages in man.  When Angels & Serpents Dance, produced by Jay Baumgartner (Evanescence, Godsmack), redefines what a hard rock album can produce.  I was excited for this album to come out, nevertheless, I am saddened by the outcome P.O.D. created.  The song, “Tell Me Why,” is unlike another P.O.D. song, but it is simply amazing.  It explains hot topics such as war and peace.  I would definitely recommend this song, but do not go out and buy the entire album.   I rate this C.D. a 6/10.

Music: Counting Crows – Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings

March 26, 2008

The anticipated “Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings” unveiled pure genius yesterday morning.  Counting Crows did it again.  I have been waiting for this album for sometime.  I have already listened to the whole C.D. once.  Songs that bubbled to the top were, Hanging Tree; Cowboys; Le ballet d’or; and Sessions.  The lyrics for Cowboys and Hanging Tree touched my soul.  Go buy the C.D., sit back in a relaxing chair and drink a cup of your favorite coffee as Adam Duritz and the crew take you to another place.

Music: The Cobalt Season – But I Tell You

March 19, 2008

A good friend let me borrow this C.D. and I have found that the lyrics are authentic and not superifical.  American Empire; Glory; The Great Inversion; I, Obstruction; and Like Jesus are simply amazing.  Five out of eleven songs on a C.D. is hard to come by these days.  If you have a good friend who has this, borrow it, if not, go out and buy it!

Music: Angie Palmer – Road

March 12, 2008

This is one of the greatest CDs I have heard in a long time.  It is relaxing and lyrically poetic.  I especially loved “Footprints in the Snow” and “Less Than I Need You“.  I would recommend this CD to anyone.
